Hello everyone,
We’ve had lots of requests for a list of available items and prices, so I thought I would post them here. Just a couple of updates. First, our carrot supply this year is quite low. The reason for this is that a large portion of our last planting, which was intended for year-end sales, did not turn out well. Being a new farm, we are still trying to correct soil fertility, and in this instance, the carrots were planted in a low spot in our field which has historically ponded with water during the spring. Our guess is this produced some sort of nutrient deficiency/excess that produced low quality carrots with poor flavor. So, at this point, we are not taking any more orders for carrots, so that we can make it through the last CSA and market. Of the orders we did receive to date, we will fill them on a first come, first served basis until supplies run out. Sorry, I know, that’s a bummer. As for all the other items available, here’s the list:
Russet potatoes @ $1.25 /pound
Russian Banana fingerling potato@ $1.75/pound
Yellow onions @ $1.50/pound
Red onions @ $1.50/pound
Salmon River winter squash @ 55 cents/pound
Red Kuri winter squash @ 75 cents/pound
Acorn winter squash @ $1.75/pound
Delicata winter squash @ $1.75/pound
Spaghetti winter squash @ $1.25/pound
You can order these items by the pound, or you can just tell us how many of each you would like, and what size. For instance, you could ask for 3 large salmon river squash, and we would just tell you the cost when you pick them up, rathe than having to guess how many pounds that would be.
You can purchase all of these items at our farmer’s market stand during the last Whitefish market this week, or at Saturday morning market in Kalispell at FVCC. If you only want small quantities, say less than 5# of anything, we recommend you just come to market (unless you’re part of the Glacier crew). For larger order, you can send us an email at info@twobearfarm.com to submit your order. The deadline is this Sunday to have your order included in this week’s CSA. Thanks for all your support!
Todd
