Hello CSA members!
We hope you are all enjoying your winter! It’s been a surprisingly mild one, especially compared to last year! And it’s hard to believe that the spring growing season is just around the corner. Every year, I get lots of questions from CSA members and Farmer’s Market Customers about their personal gardens. And as much as I love talking about growing vegetables, I rarely have the time or bandwidth at market or CSA distribution to give customers the attention they deserve. So, at other times of year (like now), I make an effort to be more available, and I think it’s a great time for everyone to learn new things and start planning. One of my favorite venues for this type of outreach is the annual Free the Seeds! Fair at Flathead Valley Community College (FVCC). It’s hard to believe this is the 5th year of this event already, and this year has a great line-up of workshops and panels, as well as a free seed swap. It is happening on March 7th, 2020 in the FVCC Arts & Technology Building. The seed swap begins at 9am, and the the one-hour workshops run from 10am to 3:30pm. Or you can just find me in the crowd and I’ll do my best to answer any questions you might have.

There is a lot of buzz in the valley about the 2020 farm season, and a lot of work going on to strengthen our Community Food System. This winter I will be making an attempt to write more blog posts about some of the new and exciting practices that we are implementing at the farm as well as including community news, as I think it provides some important context for talking about the small farm movement, and your role in it. So, I hope to see you at Free the Seeds in a few weeks!
